This charming Japanese comedy is a romance that tells its story in a style that's au courant for the early 21st century. Two young quirky characters fall in love over the Internet, and the film, which uses a split screen and shows the computer text overlaid on real environments, makes the online chats engaging and believable. Still, the film's formal experimentation and tech-centered sensibility don't obscure the fact that the heart of the story is warm and human.
